Chichen Itza is located centrally on the Yucatan Peninsula in the municipality of Tinum. It is on the main highway between Cancun and Merida.

Chichen Itza is roughly 2.5 hours from most hotels in Cancun or the Riviera Maya. Our Chichen Itza tour with hotel pickup* includes round-trip transportation in an air-conditioned vehicle for a seamless excursion to the Mayan pyramids.

To enhance the experience and avoid the heat, it is recommended to visit Chichen Itza during the cooler months, typically from November to March.


Sundays are particularly busy at Chichen Itza, as the site is free for Mexican nationals, making it advisable to avoid visiting on that day.

While you can marvel at the impressive architecture and explore the beautiful surroundings, climbing the pyramids is not permitted as part of the visitor experience at Chichen Itza. This restriction is in place due to security reasons and to preserve the cultural and archaeological heritage of the site
