PADI Advanced Open Water is designed for certified divers ready to go beyond the basics and experience a more advanced side of scuba diving. Through five Adventure Dives, including Deep Diving and Underwater Navigation, you’ll develop the confidence, awareness, and control needed to explore deeper environments and more challenging dive conditions.
Led by experienced PADI instructors in the Caribbean waters of Akumal, this course combines real underwater adventure with practical skill development, helping you become a more capable and comfortable diver every time you descend beneath the surface.
Rather than focusing only on certification, the experience is designed to expand your abilities through hands-on exploration, buoyancy refinement, navigation techniques, and greater underwater awareness, all in one of Mexico’s most iconic scuba diving destinations.
Through five Adventure Dives, including Deep Diving and Underwater Navigation, you’ll develop the confidence, awareness, and control needed to explore deeper environments and more dynamic dive conditions.
Depending on weather conditions and instructor recommendations, divers may also be introduced to specialties such as Peak Performance Buoyancy, Fish Identification, Drift Diving, and Underwater Naturalist experiences, all designed to help you become more comfortable and capable underwater.

Cancun, Cozumel, and the Riviera Maya are renowned as some of the best diving destinations in Mexico, featuring a variety of dive sites including reefs, underwater museums, cenotes, and shipwrecks.
Adventure Dives may include specialties such as Night Diving, Boat Diving, Drift Diving, Search and Recovery, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Naturalist, and Fish Identification, allowing divers to continue expanding their skills through different underwater environments and conditions.
Each Adventure Dive completed during the PADI Advanced Open Water course may count toward the first dive of the corresponding PADI Specialty Diver Course.
Throughout the course, divers develop greater underwater awareness, control, and confidence through practical Adventure Dives led by experienced PADI instructors.

Adventure Dives do not need to be completed on consecutive days, allowing divers to continue their training at their own pace while enjoying the flexibility of their Cancun or Riviera Maya vacation.
Yes. Many divers enroll in the PADI Advanced Open Water Cancun course shortly after completing their Open Water Diver certification. The program is designed to help divers continue building confidence and experience through supervised Adventure Dives in real open water conditions.
NOTE: The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is designed for PADI Open Water Divers who are at least 12 years old and want to advance their diving skills.
The PADI Advanced Open Water Course includes five adventure dives where you’ll get to explore the depths of Cancun’s crystal clear waters. During your dives, you’ll have the opportunity to see vibrant tropical fish, gracefully gliding sea turtles, and larger marine life like giant manta rays.

Absolutely. Many divers complete their Advanced Open Water training before exploring more advanced scuba diving experiences such as Cozumel drift dives, cenotes, wreck environments, and other specialty dives throughout Mexico.
Yes. The course includes essential scuba diving equipment, including mask, tanks, regulator, BCD, and wetsuit when seasonal weather conditions require thermal protection.
Although we provide you with all the necessary equipment you’ll need during your dive, you may bring your own. However, this does not alter the price of the tour.
All of our scuba dive tours and courses are led by experienced PADI-certified instructors who follow all the PADI guidelines and standards for the Advanced Course and are regularly trained on safety protocol and emergency procedures to ensure a fun and safe experience for everyone. Additionally, we prioritize small groups and employ the buddy system so that no guests dive alone.
