United for a Cleaner Paradise

Volunteers clean a beach trail, collecting trash under the bright sun and blue ocean backdrop.

At Cancun Adventures, we firmly believe that tourism and conservation can go hand in hand. These initiatives not only help preserve the natural environment but also raise awareness about the impact of plastic waste and other debris on our marine ecosystems.

During a recent beach cleanup at Isla Contoy National Park—an ecologically significant protected area— a group of 34 volunteers, including team members from Cancun Adventures and Dreams Sands Cancún, collected a total of 357.48 kilograms of waste, including:

  • 217.99 kg of non-recyclable trash
  • 102.7 kg of metals
  • 26.55 kg of abandoned fishing nets
  • 10.24 kg of recyclables such as PET, cans, glass, and bottle caps

Beyond the cleanup, the initiative aimed to encourage visitors and the community to reduce single-use plastics and adopt sustainable practices when enjoying natural spaces.

It is essential for the private sector to play a role in protecting marine ecosystems and preventing harm to local wildlife.

Thanks to the collaboration of volunteers from Cancun Adventures and Dreams Sands Cancún, along with the support of the Isla Mujeres local government and CONANP, this cleanup was made possible. Their commitment to environmental protection inspires us to keep developing initiatives that promote more responsible and conscious tourism.
